PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) degree offered under the National Education Policy (NEP) by the Bangalore North University is a four-year Honors programme with eight semesters. The BBA programme exposes students to a gamut of subjects related to the business field which equips the student with competitive skills and competencies essential for dynamic organizations. The programme offers students with choice-based specialization in business-related academic discipline viz. Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Data Analytics, Retailing and Logistics and Supply Chain Management. 

The BBA degree develops a student's practical, managerial, and communication skills, and business decision-making capabilities that prepares them to understand the trends, navigate dynamic environment and make fact-based decisions for business success. The BBA course offers knowledge and training in management and leadership skills to prepare them for managerial roles and entrepreneurship. To enrich the learning process, The bba degree programme incorporates training and practical experience in the form of case studies, presentations, workshops, industrial visits, expert talks, fests, exhibitions, quiz and interaction with established industry experts.

Overall PROGRAMME objectives

​

After successful completion of the programme, Graduates shall:

  1. develop entrepreneurism by equipping themselves with all the skills and knowledge required to start a business

  2. become competent managers with interdisciplinary knowledge, exhibiting ethical values

  3. apply knowledge of management theories and practices to solve business’ problems

  4. apply appropriate techniques to effectively manage business challenges and demonstrate ethical and value-based leadership abilities

  5. develop analytical and critical thinking abilities for business decision making

SPECIFIC PROGRAMME Objectives

 

After successful completion of the programme, Graduates shall:

 

  1. Domain Knowledge and skills- acquire comprehensive knowledge and understanding of commerce and allied subjects.

  2. Communication and IT Skills- conceptualize commercial and business related issues clearly and expressly and impliedly communicate the same with stakeholders effectively, and capable to use various Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools for exploring, analysis, and utilizing the information for business purposes.

  3. Critical thinking and Problem solving skills - develop independent thinking in understanding the concepts and challenges of Commerce and Business and establish a relationship of causes and effect, so that viable solutions can be found.  Students are able to engage in reflective and independent thinking by understanding the concepts in every area of Commerce and Business; able to examine the results and apply them to various problems appearing in different branches of Commerce and Business; capable analyse and synthesize data and derive inferences for valid conclusions for the issues in areas viz. Finance, Marketing, Human Resource, etc.

  4. Self-directed Learning and Research Skills: capable to work independently in diverse projects and ensure detailed study of various facets of Commerce and Business; and capable to search for, locate, extract, organize, evaluate, and use or present information that is relevant to a particular topic and also to identify the developments in various branches of Commerce and Business.

  5. Life-long Learning and Ethical behaviour: capable of self-paced and self-directed learning aimed at personal development and for improving knowledge/skill development and reskilling in all areas of Commerce; and are able to develop and show high moral and ethical values in all the transactions of their official and personal lives.

Eligibility for Admission

​​

Candidates who have completed two years Pre–University course in any discipline
of Karnataka State or its equivalent as notified by the university from time to time are eligible to seek admission for this course.

Students securing 40% aggregate marks including languages in PUC/10+2/ any equivalent is eligible.

​

Scope of the Programme

​

Graduates of BBA programme can be employed for different areas viz. sales, business development, and business management roles. They can also be considered for the jobs, as production planner, supervisor, and administrator. BBA graduates are hired by companies in the construction, manufacturing, and retail sectors also.  

​

Pursuing Master of Business Administration (MBA) is the logical extension for BBA. As the BBA graduate already gained inputs through a chosen specialisation, they can either continue the same specialisation in MBA or graduate with different specialisation.

A Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), offered by some institutions, is similar to an MBA, and has the same value, from the industry perspective. This degree also offers specialisation. 

​

There are many certifications offered for BBA graduates, which are value addition. There are professional, internationally renowned certifications in accounting, R&D, human resources and other areas. By obtaining these diplomas, one can become more employable and get a better salary package.
